Advantages in IE over firefox in Windows?

IE is just more prevalent- but nowhere near as secure as Mozilla Firefox !

Marketshare- that's all. The only reason to have IE is for the pages that don't support in Firefox. Okay, so we needed IE for accessabilty, but now there is a better option. FIREFOX is great and recommended to reduce ADWARE (AdAware is a program to eliminate adware/spyware)

Follow the rest of the sheep to slaughter- IE is a bigger target to internet pirates- Firefox is a smaller,customizable, more user friendly browser anyway!

None whatsoever. Firefox is more stable and more secure than IE. Moreover, as someone rightly pointed out, you cannot remove IE from your windows system because the Windows Explorer is actually IE in a disguise. IE has more holes than any other browser around and needs to be patched every now and then as they find a new bug or vulnerability. Firefox is free and has many add on features apart from the fact that it is easy to use, upgrade and configure. Most of the websites now offer support for Firefox. So, it is a better option to switch to Firefox than stay with the buggy IE.

If Windows will let you, uninstall IE 7, and go to www.microsoft.com, search for IE 6, and install that again. IE 7 has been nothing but one giant nightmare for me. If that doesn't work, another thing you can do is to go to www.mozilla.com, If IE 7 will let you, download Firefox, double-click the installer icon, and just use Firefox from now on. If you really miss IE, you can get add-ons for Firefox that make it look like IE. I hope this helps! Also, what does the error message say when it comes up?

FireFox is a far better server than IE7 more features more reliable you can run them both to compare at the same time and you won't go back to IE7 again. Trust me.
it would help if you said what the error message was. i have been using I.E.7 for ages and the only error message that i have ever had with it was a smartbridge error message, which is quite easy to get rid of. other than that i have never had a problem with it. good luck.lol

I downloaded IE7 through the yahoo webpage link (what a mistake!!) and now i've tried everything - looked up microsoft's web page for help, remove the IE7 update, etc etc. ive even looked at previous questions and answers - which are helpful but when it comes to locating IE7 in my remove programs, i cant seem to find it. help?

Sorry, I misunderstood the question. It may be loaded as an "update". In add/Remove programs, try clicking on "Show Updates". Also, use Start -%26gt; All Programs -%26gt; Accessories -%26gt; System Tools -%26gt; System Restore to restore your computer to before you installed IE7.

And I wouldn't remove it if I were you since it is way better than IE6 and FF2...but it's your computer so do whatever you want.
I personally don't get why you want to remove it, but anyway, it is called "Windows Internet Explorer 7" in Add/Remove Programs. IE7 is an important update for Windows so you may find that your computer wants to reinstall it automatically.
Sorry you are having same problem many others have had. You should be able to uninstall the 7 and 6 will still be there. Click on start, then on control panel, then ADD/REMOVE, then scroll down and you should see Internet Explorer7, then uninstall it. If this is what you have done, and it did not work...then you need help beyond my capabilities...so hope you get other answers to help you.
Make sure you look for "Windows Internet Explorer 7" in the W's... just in case you were looking in the I's for "Internet...". GL

It's not great IE7 is it? I'm sticking with it for now, but use Firefox instead, it's how a web browser should be.

Anyway, if you've just installed it and assuming you are on XP, use 'system' restore and just go back a couple of days.

It should be in Control Panel ... Add/Remove Programs. If not, you may have to beat it to death with a stick, by deleting its folder and files in Program Files, using Windows Explorer (in Accessories).

Then download a "non-customised" version from Microsoft's website. I've had no trouble whatsoever (touch wood!) with IE7.

However, I have recently discovered Firefox, and now use it for all my "personal" browsing. ;-)
Ditch IE altogether mate and get firefox, just for tabbed browsing alone you'll never go back to IE. No more worrying about active x dumping stuff onto your machine, IE sucks balls in comparison.

there is a small trick in the process , when you go to add/ remove programs you can't see IE7 because you didn't check the Small square at the top that says " show updates" , because windows consider IE7 as an update , so check that square and then you will see IE7 , remove it. done.

Hi, weird problem u have there cause I used live messenger beta without any problems. Check to see if there is an update to that beta version. You could always down grade to another version if u continue having problems. Upgrade when the final release is out.

Is your IE 7 slow to load?

I've checked for spyware,viruses ect.None found.But Internet Explorer 7 takes so long to load,I've grown a full beard,my hair's turned grey and my nails are have been bitten down to bare flesh by the time it appears with my yahoo home page.

(Please don't listen to some of these people. They don't know what they are saying. Don't perform a step that might end up crashing your computer even more. YOUR INTERNET PROBLEM IS NOT CAUSED BY A VIRUS. Your IE should just be reset to default. That's all.)

The basic help, depends of course on your Operating System. Like the windows version of your computer. IF YOU ARE NOT USING A WINDOWS VISTA, and then you are using Internet Explorer version 7, I suggest you downgrade back to IE6.

Anyway, for your problem, here goes. This would definitely work for dial up, and also for high speed connections. First on your Internet Explorer, up on top, you should see there TOOLS; like where it says File, Edit, View, Favorites, TOOLS, Help.

After tools, click Internet Options. **If you don't see the tools on Internet Explorer, then go to start%26gt; control panel%26gt; INTERNET OPTIONS.

After you click on Internet Options. You are now on the general tab.

On general click on delete files, and delete cookies.

Then up on top, beside the general tab, click on Security. Then click default level down below. After default level, on the pictures up on top, click LOCAL INTRANET, then default level again. Then on the icons again on top, click on TRUSTED SITES, then default level. And do the same thing with RESTRICTED SITES.

After that, click on PRIVACY tab and click DEFAULT.

Then go to CONTENT tab then click on CLEAR SSL STATE.

Then go to the CONNECTIONS tab where it should be giving you the list of your connections, ok. Like there is a window there where it says VIRTUAL AND PRIVATE NETWORK, you should see the list of your connections. Click on the list of your connections then click on SETTINGS on the right side. Make sure that no boxes are checked especially for USE A PROXY SERVER... Just click OK after leaving all boxes NOT CHECKED. Then back on the CONNECTIONS tab, make sure the DOT is set to NEVER DIAL A CONNECTION.

Then on the PROGRAMS tab, click on RESET WEB SETTINGS. It should be asking you something after clicking on it, before you click on YES, take the check out on ALSO RESET MY HOMEPAGE.

Lastly, click on the ADVANCED tab and click, down below, RESTORE DEFAULTS.

After all of these, just click on APPLY and then OK.

No.
You can try going into internet options in IE7, click on advanced tab and click reset... This will reset everything and might speed things up.
Haven't used IE in a long time- too many problems with that- Firefox or Opera.
Yahoo home page does take a lot longer to load that it did a couple of months ago. I can't say that Firefox is any quicker.

I suspect it is due to all those animated adverts which need to be downloaded before the whole page is displayed.
are you deleting your history, temp files ect ect regular or you home page might be too big such as yahoo, i just have google.co.uk as my home page as it is small and dosen't use soo much ram
See if you have any unnecessary programs running in the background.

press ctrl+alt+del and bring up the task manager - switch to 'processes' make a list and search online for how (and if) to remove each item.
I am not sure if this will solve your problem, but sometimes your Autocomplete information will get corrupted and cause a slow load. You can clear this data store by going into options and under the content tab click the Autocomplete button. Clear your forms and passwords. If you do not need to use Autocomplete, uncheck everything. OK out and shut down all IE windows.

I would also go to the General tab and click the Temporary Internet Files settings button. Next, click view objects button. For each of the objects you see in there, right click and select properties. If you do not recognize them as controls that you downloaded, delete them. Be careful though, some of these controls are needed by some websites to function properly like Flash, Java, etc, but it should be ok to remove them and if you need them again, you will just need to download and re-install the plug-in.
IE 7 is well known for giving trouble. You can fix it by uninstalling it through Add or Remove Programs after you remove it Restart your PC and re install it again. Actually I was going to advise you to get Firefox but seeing as you have it all ready I will do one better, download the Add On below it's call FasterFox it's an accelerator and your FireFox will be even faster. Visual Basic 6.0 is the original thing and most widely used. However VB.NET is the new game in town and people are starting to switch to it now.

If is is not listed in Add/Remove Programs and still the application is running in the computer then we need to remove the program from Registry. All the programs install would be definitely listed in Registry.

Follow the steps to un-install the program from Registry.

These steps involve Windows Registry modifications and hence I suggest you take a backup of the registry before applying the solution.

Registry Backup:

1. Click Start, Run and type regedit.

2. Click File on Registry menu and select Export to File option.

3. Select the radio button beside “All” option.

4. Give a file name (say regbackup) and save it onto the desktop.

You can't uninstall it because it is an microsoft internal programme. But you can rollback to the previous version. To roll back to previous version go to controll panal and double click add/remove programmes. Tick the show windows updates there, now you can see ie 7 beta click remove it. After restaring the computer you will get previous version of IE on you computer.
I had the same problem. smells kinds fishy, don't it?

Likely memory issues in terms of how IE handles Flash. Could also be a mismatch in the version of flash on the PC vs. the version of flash used. Try upgrading flash first and maybe add memory to the PC second.

One more suggestion - install the latest Java Runtime Environment and ensure that IE is using Sun's Java rather than Microsoft's Java. Microsoft's Java is notoriously very buggy. You could also download and install Internet Explorer 7 Release Candidate 1 and see if the behavior is improved - but understand that you're dealing with buggy software.

Listen to those people. IE-7 is still in the beta stage, and yes, it does have bugs that needs to be resolved. Quality assurance folks are analyzing this problem as we speak. Also, did you look at the size of it? Do you have enough memory installed on your pc for this?

Internet Explorer will cause your computer because either because has a virus or some program inside of it causing it to crash everytime. You should proably unistall it and use a older versions or use Firefox which is much better than IE i used and works great

i have a sony laptop which has vista and windows media player 11. whenever i try to watch video on the internet my browser craches and it says must close! 1st site requires WMP and 2nd site requires realplayer. tried both of them no luck.also i used firefox and IE7.still the same. this is brand new laptop and java+flash player enabled.the 2 sites both working great when i use my destop computer.some sites work great such as WWE etc... is it vista related issue? it is weird...

Welcome to the world of Vista.

I have Vista Ultimate on one of my pcs but it is restricted to only running Office 2007 and XNA Game Studio for programming.

Everything else , from email to web surfing , DVD recording and music playing , I use my Linux pcs for - never any problems and no viruses or trojans either to contend with.

Accept Vista for what it is , very new and it will take ages for a lot of software to be converted to be able to use it.

If you can't wait then simply use Linux.

You could run a Live DVD of say Ubuntu , watch your net videos through this , and then when you need to use Windows just reboot into Windows again. The Live DVD allows your pc to run Linux ( a bit slower of course than usual ) without changing anything on your pc. You can even use USB drives to save any data off the net during your session for later use.

Great idea really.

Vista+WMP11+IE%26amp;Firefox can't streaming?!?!?!?windows xp

Welcome to the world of Vista.

I have Vista Ultimate on one of my pcs but it is restricted to only running Office 2007 and XNA Game Studio for programming.

Everything else , from email to web surfing , DVD recording and music playing , I use my Linux pcs for - never any problems and no viruses or trojans either to contend with.

Accept Vista for what it is , very new and it will take ages for a lot of software to be converted to be able to use it.

If you can't wait then simply use Linux.

no, you should workout instead. The endorphins will give you more energy than the coffee and you'll burn calories and your metabolism will go up.

I don't know if caffeine is fattening or not but I know it can give you cellulite.
eat more, and you will lose some weight...its true---dont really know about the coffee...is it high in sugar??mabye its contributing to your gain?
I do not recommend drinking coffee past 4pm. It keeps your body stimulated into your bedtime. You should also be eating five small meals a day. The potion size should be about the size of your fist. If you need something in between, eat an apple or banana.

Caffeine actually speeds up your metabolism so your actually supposed to lose weight but since you basically depriving yourself of food, therefore your metabolism is slowing down and by doing that you'll gain more weight. I recommend that you eat breakfast in the morning. You should always eat something that is a big as your fist. But if you really want to lose weight cut out all carbs but still have some in your diet because once you have lost all that weight and start eating carbs again you'll just gain weight immediatly. So eat carbs little by little.
CAffiene can actually slow down your overall metabolism. Your body actually needs food to lose weight. If you dont feed it, anything that you put in your body, it will store as fat. Dates back to caveman times, when you needed fat and muscle to keep yourself warm.
usually people attribute losing weight to coffee because of the heat flowing through you so early in the morning on a mostly empty stomach. But sure you can gain weight on coffee especially when it's filled with cream and sugar.

If you drink caffeine, I suggest you try green tea, because it's healthy for you, and it speeds up your metabolism. As for coffee, I'm not too sure about because some contain too much sugar.

I had the same problem with IE7 being extremely slow and in general everything running slower. Try increasing the size of the virtual memory paging file. I changed my range from (672-1344) to (1000-2000). If you have the available resources this should help. Good luck! The steps to change in XP Professional are below:

Open System in Control Panel.

On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.

On the Advanced tab, under Virtual memory, click Change.

Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file you want to change.

Under Paging file size for selected drive, click Custom size, and type a new paging file size in megabytes in the Initial size (MB) or Maximum size (MB) box, and then click Set.

Be sure to save/apply your changes and reboot your computer.

There are programs in www.download.com that may help you.

I do not know the names, but try searching there. If not, try Mozilla 2 it is far better than IE7.

In my opinion and many others IE is a horrible browser. Especially IE7. To fix this problem use Mozilla Firefox. IE7 stole some ideas from them like the tabbed browsers. In my years of using Firefox I have rarely had problems with it. I also haven't been hacked since I have used it. It is a very secure browser and very nicely designed. Try it out.

What's weird is that when I go to Start-Run- iexplorer.exe , my error message is "Windows can't find iexplorer.exe..". firefoxe's code hasn't been compiled like other browsers. they leave it this way so you can hack all of it's parts more easily. yes you can even hack it so firefox is bluebird or whatever you want it to be. they even show you how to hack it on their site.

Safari (Apple's web browser) takes a shorter time to start than Firefox or IE. However IE takes a shorter time to start than Firefox probably because Firefox has to load a bunch of extensions and add-ons, while IE only has to load some extensions. Hope this helped explain it.

Change your history save time in your settings. Programs-Settings-Control Panel-Internet Options-History. Set your History low...it's probably at 15 days or omething like that. It simply saves the location that way you have easy access without having to memorize the whole address. Start typing just a few letters of an address and everything relevant to those letters will come up and all you have to do is click which one you want. I use it all the time!

Near the end of this year, around the same time as Windows Vista.
IE 7.0 Beta 2 has been released to the public, get it from Microsoft, http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/ie7/... that being said, keep in mind it is a beta, there are still a few minor issues to work out as far as compatibilities are concerned and there are already some security issues with it as well.

If you can count the Beta as a release then it is already out. If you mean the final version that is up in the air, probably around the same time as Vista.
The beta version of IE 7.0 is available for download and testing.

Install IE 7 and it will fix 6.0 bug(s). Now, IE 7 needs a little tweek like putting file menu on top but other than that, it is much better than 6! PLus it FINALLY gives you tab browsing!!!! It takes a little time to get use to IE 7 but there is no turning back now!

Hi, the K1, K2 etc, came in on bikes from 2001. Hence K1 is for 2001 model, K4 is for a 2004 model. I believe the earlier bikes just used a single letter for the year code. If you look on the identification plate on the headstock you'll probably see on there "Model" GSXR 1000 "n". The "n" being the year code.

What someone considers to be beautiful can differ from person to person. You cannot say 'so-so has brown eyes, therefore she is beautiful'. Someone may prefer a green eyed girl, some people might prefer hazel. Someone may prefer a guy with long hair, some may prefer short.

I dont think there is a 'majority' in terms of attraction... That is more based on personal taste. There have been studies though that show people are drawn to symmetry.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" is an old saying that is trite but true. During my youngest days, I had thought of tattoos as ugly. I felt that they were a form of self-mutilation that was exactly the same thing that members of many primitive native tribes do, when they poke large holes in their ears or noses, or other body parts. They do this in order to place fowl-looking foreign objects through their various body parts. Based on popular culture now-a-days, tattoos are not only popular, but they are actually considered chic!

Personally, I would find it difficult to embrace a woman who is prominently sporting a tattoo. That is because to me, she is saying that she really WANTS to be noticed for being unattractive. You can go back to Internet Explorer (IE6) just go to add and remove in your control panel and click on remove IE7 and the wizard will walk you through reinstalling IE6 I didn't like IE7 neither. I also use Mozilla Firefox as another web search engine. Hope this works for you!

Its simple.... Its folder which is default and this can not be deleted even you succeded , IE will create it on it own....

I had the exact same problem when I upgraded. Don't be surprised if you run into other problems as well, like not being able to play certain video and audio formats. Honestly I would dump IE and switch to Firefox. Just download Firefox and try it out, and if you decide you like it just make that your default browser.

The request timed out message means the default gateway (router) is not at the address you are pinging. How are you connected, if through a router go into it's setup and make sure DHCP is turned on, Then go to your network connections and right click the connection you are using and click properties. Then set everything in the tcp/ip to automatic. If you are connecting by modem, your ISP may be the default gateway, many people on the Internet do not allow pinging, it puts their machines at risk from DOS (denial of service) attacks.

see if dns is working and if your really connected (do ipconfig froma dos window and see if you have an IP address, also do netstat -rn and see if you have a routing table along with a default gateway, if you do have a default gateway, see if you can ping it by doing ping %26lt;default gateway IP from a dos window, if you get a response, check if you have dns by doing nslookup from a dos window)

IE for Mac us unavailable. However, Firefox is, and Safari (another web browser) comes pre-installed. I don't know what you mean about formatting the hard-drive

You can get firefox for the mac, that's what I use.

IE is not necessary, a mac comes with Safari, which is a FAR SUPERIOR browser.

When I click on links that open in a new window, that new window is opening at half height and I always have to go up and maximize it. It's a pain, especially with the touchpad. It wasn't always that way but I don't know what setting might have changed.

As an interim solution, if anybody remembers the keyboard shortcut to maximize a window, I'd take that, too.

I've searched through my Y! toolbar security and got the red blotch off the ads, but after seaching through my Telus Sec., and windows toolbar settings, I can't find another setting that might be blocking these graphics. Whenever I try to open any website in my IE6 web browser, the browser shows "this page cannot be displayed". But the browser of real player is successfully opening all the sites. How can I solve this problem? My DSL connection speed is 100 mbps.

clean out your browser cache, cookies and history

to do this

open your IE browser

click on Tools - then Internet Options

in the General tab - you'll see Temporary Internet files around mid way down

- click on - Delete cookies - a small window will pop up - click OK

- click on - Delete Files - sm. window pops up - click on the box next to Delete all offline content - then click OK

- click on - Delete Files (again) - sm. window pops up - click on OK

next - you'll see History - just below the Temp. Internet files section

- click on - Clear History - a long window pops up asking "are you sure you want Windows to delete your history of visted websites"

click Yes

- next - change the "days to keep pages in history" to 1 (if it's not already that number) - then click the Apply button at the bottom of the window

while you still have the Internet Properties window open

- check to see what your "Home page" is set to - if it's - blank

then type in a web address that you want your browser to open to

- example - www.yahoo.com

once you set your homepage - click the Apply button at the bottom

next - click the OK button at the bottom of the Internet Properties window

you're done

next close your browser - then reopen your browser to test it
