You need to check your internet connection. just because u get to your homepage(if you get that far) it may just be a cookie and the page is alreay saved on your computer. Also, there is a possibility that it is just that certain website, or the site has been removed. hope it helps.
My IE browser always give a messege " page cannot be displayed..." when I browse the Internet?windows updates
Check the wire connection between your modem and your computer. (Modem is the long black box.)
If all else fails, call your internet provider.

Perhaps you have the browser in offline mode... check under file to see if there is a checkmark by offline.
check your internet settings
i know it has something to do with that, or it could be your server.
better call your ISP for proper assistance and to make sure the error message will be fixed!
Is this just at your opening or home page on Internet Explorer? Or is this with all pages? If it's merely the first page that comes up (or in this case, doesn't), perhaps it's just your home page that has gone down.
If you are actually unable to surf the internet, the most likely answer is that your internet service has become interrupted. This could be a problem in your modem/network adapter, a simple cable malfunction, something wrong with a cable modem, or even the wiring in your wall. Or, of course, it could be your internet provider. Your best option here, after checking all your connections, is to contact your internet provider and ask them for assistance.
If other web-based services, such as Yahoo Messenger, still function, it's likely that your IE program has somehow become corrupted, possibly by a virus?
If possible, try installing another browser - I'd reccomend Mozilla Firefox. IE is the most commonly hacked browser, and as such is much more vulnerable to virus attacks than any other browser. Firefox is open source and free. This means as hackers are trying to create viruses for it, other programmers are creating antiviruses for it. Everyone wins.
Lastly, if your web based applications still function but a browser will not, you have a computer based problem and will need to speak with your internet provider for assistance.
Hope this helps.
